Measuring the health of the global air freight market is a difficult proposition, but fortunately, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) compile data to help achieve just that. In keeping with our experience at AirFreight.com, IATA reported that July was a truly encouraging month and the demand for global air freight increased by five percent for the month.
That increase marks the fastest rate of growth in nearly 18 months per the IATA report. The result was driven by significant growth in the Middle East and Europe while both the North American and Asian markets also improved during July. Against a backdrop of some contrasting economic and production figures the growth in air freight demand was particularly remarkable.
Global air freight capacity increased by 5.2 percent over the same period, an almost identical figure.
